The Deserted Mermaid Island (Lo Scialandro) sits in the Golfo di Policastro just outside the busy market town of Sapri, on the astonishingly beautiful Coast of Maratea. It is just off the coast directly opposite
Lover's Walk, and The Sapri Wedding Beach, where we also offer weddings. A boat is required to get to the Island - see options and costs below.
It is a source for many folk legends such as the "Legend of Lovers Walk" - see
Lover's Walk.
From the photos, it looks difficult to have a wedding there; however and interestingly, the island once hosted a night club in the 60s - where the glitterati of the area would get on their yachts and sail to the island for a night of "disco". The nightclub built a landing area which exists today.
The town has recently given permission for the mayor to conduct weddings on the island. We have not yet had a wedding there; however, the slideshow above will give a good feeling for the dramatic setting and how to get there (see information on nearby Sapri Weddings Beach which is directly opposite the island).

Boat Costs
We offer two types of boat access to the beach - see slideshow above to see photos of types of boats.
The astonishingly romantic antique wooden sailboat Antique Sailboat - holds 28 max - champagne reception and even full wedding receptions on board.
Two basic beach boats - max 20 people on each boat - 25 Euros per person (200 Euros minimum charge each boat)

We can provide transport to/from the Port of Sapri for these venues: (the cost of transport is roughly 10 Euro per person - depends on occupancy rate of vehicles.

The Hotel Pisacane, a four star rated hotel, is a new hotel which sits on Sapri's Luongomare (palm tree lined promenade or boardwalk) a short distance from mainline rail station . Hotel Pisacane is the place to stay for weddings at Lovers Walk, The Sapri Wedding Beach and the
"Deserted Island - Isola dello Scialandro". Boats to these venues will pick you up right in front of the hotel and drop you back off after the ceremony.
