A Small Hotel Amidst The Beauty of The Cilento National Park
Above The Sea & Dramatic Secluded Beaches
Below the Mountains
Above Scario - One of Italy's Most Beautiful and Unspoiled Fishing Villages (and my favourite place in Italy)
Caluna Charme is fascinating - a mixture of the very old and the very new (recently opened building new bedrooms and renovating ancient structures) - it sits above the very blue Mediterranean in the middle of the Cilento National Park. Just above it is the ancient hill-town of Bosco with a beautiful little church, and next to the village of Acquavena, home of one of the best restaurants in Italy - U' Trappitu - (nothing fancy, just great food at great prices, and great views).
Just below the hotel is Scario - one of Italy's most beautiful and unspoiled fishing ports - where Slow Dreams was founded over our daily cappuccino watching the comings & goings of the small colourful fishing boats. Just along the coast is a long stream of secluded beaches guarded by massive cliffs - take a boat with picnic to one of them.
Soaring above the hotel is Monte di Bulgheria - an extinct volcano. Take a (tough) hike up to the summit and, surprise, there sits a little stone cottage selling fresh breads, local wines, dried sausage, etc. You can spend the night.
